Returns

If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with a Northern Tool product, you may return it for a refund or exchange within 30 days of the original purchase date. To be eligible for a return, items must be unused and in original packaging. Custom or made-to-order products are non-returnable.

To initiate a return, please contact our Customer Service team by phone at 1-800-222-5381 or email at returns@northernstool.com. We will provide instructions on how to return the item to our warehouse or to your local store if the item was purchased in-store.

Once we receive your return, we will inspect it to verify it is unused and in original condition with all parts, accessories, manuals, etc. Refunds are processed within 7-10 business days of our receiving the return and will be in the original form of payment.

Please note, you are responsible for all return shipping costs unless the return is due to our error. We recommend you retain tracking information and insurance for the return shipment in case it is lost or damaged in transit. Northern Tool is not responsible for return shipments lost or damaged in transit.

Returns must be shipped back within 30 days of the date on your packing slip or invoice. After 30 days, we cannot process the return or provide a refund.

Refunds

Once your return is received and inspected by our warehouse team, the refund will be processed to the original form of payment within 7-10 business days. For purchases made by credit card, the refund will be applied to the original credit card used. For purchases made by PayPal, the refund will be applied to your PayPal account. For purchases made by check, a refund check will be issued.

If any parts, accessories, manuals, etc are missing from the return, we reserve the right to apply a partial refund or restocking fee. You will be notified if this is the case.

Exchanges

If you would like to exchange an item for a different size, color, or other version of the same item, please contact our Customer Service team for assistance. In some cases, we may require you to return the original item before the exchange can be processed. Exchanges are subject to product availability. Standard return shipping costs apply.

Shipping Policy

Free Shipping Offers

Northern Tool offers free standard ground shipping on most online orders over $49 shipped within the contiguous United States. Exceptions include large equipment like trailers, generators, pressure washers, etc which incur additional freight fees.

Free shipping excludes delivery to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Puerto Rico, military APO/FPO/DPO addresses, and international destinations. Expedited shipping options, like next day or 2nd day air, are available at additional cost for orders needing faster delivery times.

Shipping Methods and Costs

Shipping costs are calculated automatically based on order contents, shipping address, and desired speed during checkout. An estimated shipping cost is shown on the checkout page prior to submitting your order.

Tracking Shipments

Tracking information for your shipment will be provided in your order confirmation email once the item is shipped out of our warehouse. You can also find tracking details in your online account under order history.

Delivery Times

We ship items as fast as possible, but delivery times vary based on product availability, warehouse location, shipping address, and chosen shipping speed:

Delivery Requirements

Some products require special services, equipment, or labor for delivery due to their size, weight, or configuration:

Freight/Oversized Items

Large equipment like trailers, generators, and lumber may ship via independent freight carriers like FedEx Freight, XPO, Estes, UPS Freight, etc. Transit times are typically 5-10 business days for LTL ground freight.

For oversized items, you may be required to pick up the product at your local freight terminal instead of receiving delivery due to size constraints. We will advise if this is necessary during checkout. Make sure to have adequate loading equipment like pallet jacks, forklifts, and lifting help available upon pickup.

Customer Pickup

You can choose to pickup your order at your local Northern Tool retail store during checkout to avoid shipping costs. Pickup is free for orders of any size. Make sure your entire order is marked as “ready” before coming to pickup – you will receive an email when your pickup order is processed at the store. Orders are held for 7 calendar days before being cancelled.

Refused/Returned Shipments

If a shipment is refused upon delivery, or deemed undeliverable by the carrier, it will be returned to our warehouse. You may be charged additional shipping costs to re-send the order. Contact Customer Service immediately if you refuse or miss a delivery so we can resolve the issue.

Shipping Damage or Loss

Please inspect all packages upon delivery and note any visible damage or missing items on the carrier’s delivery document before signing. Retain all packaging and contact Customer Service within 48 hours to report shipping damage, losses, or delivery issues. We will work with the carrier to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

International Shipping

We currently only ship products to the United States, Canada, and select European countries. International checkout is available online for eligible destinations. Customs fees, import taxes, and brokerage fees may apply for international orders – these are calculated at checkout.
